At SBT our youth department is actively involved in trying to reach the lost and fulfill the great commission. I am for having fun and activities, but when it becomes unbalances something is wrong…we are involved in getting out the gospel and taking a Biblical stand against the World, the flesh and the Devil. Evangelism is what God Commissioned us to go out and do…we are to get up , get out and get going, and get the job done for Christ’s glory. We encourage teens to live their lives in a way that would reach the lost for Christ through Christian living, Bible study, prayer and spiritual growth.

A youth ministry is vital to the growth and development of a teenager. The teenage years are physically, emotionally, and spiritually challenging, and it is imperative to address the special needs of this age group. At Sumter Baptist Temple we strive to support teens and their parents with Bible based preaching and teaching. Our teens are provided with a Sunday school class and special Wednesday evening services (Sigma) that can deal with the issues that are prevalent to them. A devotional challenge is given at each teen activity to help them further reinforce their beliefs and to provide a salvation challenge for anyone who might not yet have accepted Christ. Activities are planned to provide social growth and interaction. These include such fun activities as bowling, Rush Weekend, scavenger hunts, yearly lock-in, family nights, monthly after-glows, softball, and much, much more. Summer camp, the spring campout, college tour, and the Teen Valentine Banquet, and monthly youth nights are exciting "big" activities that provide both fun and the opportunity for concentrated spiritual growth. To see more on youth activities go to Photo Gallery at the top of the page.
Further, the members of the youth group are encouraged to expand their spiritual gifts by serving at Camp, helping with the Children's Fall Festival, bi-monthly Nursing Home services and by going out into the community on Saturday visitation every week.
